Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates

Update as at 23 March 2020

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our UK Pub Co. community and staff and we are committed to working with you. Due to government travel advice, we have decided to temporarily defer placements to the UK. Our aim is for all applicants to still travel to the UK and begin their adventure but simply delay the start date by 6 months or when government travel advice improves. We remain positive for placements to recommence after this paused period.

During this time we have complied a list of important questions and answers on how this rapidly changing situation may impact your travel plans to the UK.

Please feel free to email us regarding your unique situation and we hope that the below assists you.

The National Health Scheme or NHS has released the below information about COVID-19 and tips including how you can stop the spread of the virus and how to self isolate

You must make that decision and as always consider your health, safety and family.

Please also refer to the below question "I am still considering traveling to the UK, what should I do before I go?" which provides important information regarding visas.
1) Check your Countries travel advice, especially check if the UK have closed their borders.

Below are links to the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand government websites for current travel advice and advisories.

2) Check the UK Visa Immigration and Home Office Guidance on Immigration at the below link

Here you will find out if there are any updates on current UK working visas or 30 day entry clearance vignette that have already activated or are about to start. If there are no current updates on these for your nationality and you decide you do not wish to arrive in the UK please see step 3.

3) Contact UK Visa Immigration and Home Office

If you have a current UK working visa and have not entered into the UK or your vignette is about to expire or about to activate and you are unable to enter the UK, we recommend that you email the Coronavirus Immigration Helpline. When you email please provide:
• your full name as per your passport,
• your GWF number located on your application and,
• attach a clear colour copy of your vignette sticker which is inside your passport.
• In the email you are asking them to give you advice on your current vignette and if they can extend the validity of your vignette.

Current advice as at 23 March:
Your UK Working Visa will not be taken off you by UK Visa Immigration if you fail to enter into the UK during the 30 day vignette/ 30 day entry clearance (as dated on sticker inside your current passport, showing the date you are to arrive into the UK). Your visa has been approved and it will NOT be cancelled. Your UK Working Visa will remain valid.

If the UK do issue a travel ban of any sort, and this affects your visa, we are sure they will provide guidance on what to do about vignettes and current UK working visas and we will find out about this when the authorities update their guidance.
For anyone who has entered into the UK recently on their vignette / 30 day entry clearance, there can not be any changes to the visa including cancellations, change in dates or refunds.

Please pick up your BRP (Biometric residence permit) Card as soon as possible, even if you are considering travelling back to your home country.
Please pick up your BRP (Biometric residence permit) Card as soon as possible, even if you are considering travelling back to your home country.
• If you fail to pick up your BRP Card you will need to apply for a vignette transfer. Here is the link https://www.restlessworld.com.au/products/uk-entry-vignette-transfer
• If you have entered into the UK as a tourist before your vignette / 30 day entry clearance started, you have activated your visa just by arriving. Your BRP Card may not be ready for collection.
• If you are considering leaving the UK, please refer to this link regarding BRP collection.
https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/collect
• If you return home before picking up the BRP Card you will need to do a vignette transfer so you can arrive later and have a new BRP Card issued.

In short, hold tight.
We have just been advised that there are now delays in completing the visa process. There is difficulty in having the vignette stickers printed and being sent to Australia. This may cause delays of up to 3 weeks.
If you do try to pick up your passport during this period, you risk having your visa application cancelled and will lose your visa fee. Please be patient while UK Visa Immigration work through this issue.

However we have been advised that you should hold off on applying, for the next 30 days in case an announcement is made by UK Visa Immigration about issuing extensions.
